Lambeth SEND Services
Lambeth SEND services provide a variety of support options to assist children, young people, and their families. The following services and drop-in sessions are currently available.
Services
The Lambeth SEND Local Offer lists the support for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) from education to activities available in Lambeth.
The Families Information Service offers parents, carers, professionals, and young people free, trustworthy, and unbiased guidance about local services and activities, supporting you and your family in accessing the resources available in your area.
The Disability Register is a voluntary list for Lambeth residents aged 0–18 with disabilities or special educational needs. Registration provides a Liberty Card, which serves as identification, makes it easier to request support, and offers discounts from local and national providers.
The Lambeth Information, Advice and Support Service (IASS) offers free, impartial, and confidential guidance covering education, health, and social care for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities, as well as their parents.
The Lambeth Autism Advisory Service (LAAS) gives advice, support and training to schools and families and helps them to meet the needs of children and young people with autism.
We also hold half-termly drop-in parents' support groups and workshops.

Local Area SEND Inspection
Ofsted and CQC jointly inspect local area partnerships to see how well they work together to improve the experiences and outcomes of children and young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). The inspections are carried out in line with the area SEND inspection framework and handbook.
From January 2023, all local area partnerships will receive an inspection under the new area SEND framework. The area SEND inspections under the new framework will follow a continuous cycle of inspections. Local area partnerships are inspected at least once every 5 years.
The inspection will look at local education, health and care services for children and young people aged 0 – 25 with SEND and gather evidence about how effective the provision is.
You can watch a video explaining how the inspection will take place, or read the guides
We do not know when the inspection will take place in Lambeth. We will be given one week’s notice, and an online survey for parent carers will be open during that week for you to give your views about services in the local area. We will ensure paper copies are also available.
Tracking meetings
-
During week 2 of the inspection, inspectors will hold tracking meetings with children and young people, their families (if appropriate) and the practitioners who work with them. These will be virtual meetings.
-
Tracking meetings are an opportunity for inspectors to hear directly about children and young people’s experiences and outcomes. They will consider how decisions have been made, how young people have been involved and whether they’ve received the right help at the right time.
-
Inspectors will select approximately 6 children and young people to be involved in tracking meetings. They will choose children and young people with a range of needs, who access a range of services, from a range of age groups and who are at different stages in their involvement with health and social care services.
-
Lambeth council will arrange for a practitioner who knows the child or young person well to approach them, and their parents or carers, to ask for their agreement to be involved. If your child is selected, you will be provided with more information on what’s involved before you decide whether to agree.
